This is my story...
After finding out in 2017 that my mother had Congestive Heart Failure and her heart was only functioning at 40%, I knew that my time with her would come to an end sooner rather than later. We were the best of friends and still spoke every day so I couldn't begin to imagine my life without her. Because I am a Retirement Advisor and work with seniors on a daily basis, I have seen what happens when people are unprepared for a loved one's death. I began to prepare myself for what was to come the best I could mentally, but I had no idea how to prepare or what would be needed to close her life. I felt a sense of urgency to create something that would make that arduous task a little easier for me.
Once I did the research and found out what I would need to know when she passed, I soon began by typing a booklet that would contain all the information I would need when the time came. I completed it October of 2018 and sent it to my mom to fill out and send back to me. I received the completed guide back 3 months later on January 18, 2019. I called my mom to thank her for filling it out and returning it. We talked for a few minutes and then she said she was tired and wanted to go to bed (6:30 pm). I said " ok mom, get some rest. Goodnight, I love you and I will talk to you tomorrow”. Tomorrow never came. My mother died that night. Those were the last words I would ever hear from her.
When I traveled from AZ to CA to my moms house to close her estate, I sat down at her kitchen table and tried to prepare myself for what I thought would be many daunting hours of work. I quickly realized that having this guide made EVERYTHING effortless for me. All I had to do was make phone calls and pull paperwork from her files. I knew where every document was located and I knew every bit of information I needed to know. I felt as if my mom was holding my hand lovingly guiding me through the whole process.
Right there in the middle of everything, my A-HA moment came! I knew that I had to bless people with this important guide. For almost 7 months after I returned, day after day I sat in my office typing and researching information to place in this guide. It was truly a labor of love! After I finally had the perfect name, the perfect picture for the cover, the perfect layout, the perfect content, I've Got It Covered was finally ready and was published In October of 2019.
I am so incredibly proud to be able to bless people with this guide.
I've Got It Covered is the perfect tool to help people during one of their most difficult times. Having this guide made me feel as if my mother was there holding my hand, walking me through each step and loving me through my whole grieving process.
